Temple Kalasan

Kalasan temple is located only 50 meters in the south edge of the road Yogya-Solo, 14 kilometers, and approximately 600 meters in the West Daya Sari temple.

Kalasan temple is the oldest Buddhist monument in the area of Yogyakarta and Central Java and was built in the year 778 BC as a tribute to the god Tara.
Although temple Kalasan Buddha but figured this is the Rakai Panangkaran founders of Wamca Sanjaya who profess Hindu religion, for inducement of the teachers from wamca dynasty who profess Buddhism.
Kalasan temple is also famous as a beautiful temple hiasannya and exquisite carving batunya. In addition Ornament and relief on the wall outside a kind of cement coated kuna called vajralepa.
